The Courier and Daily Comet, sister papers in south Louisiana, seek a senior staff writer. The Courier is a 19,000-circulation daily newspaper inHouma. The Daily Comet in nearby Thibodaux is an 11,000-circulation daily. Both are owned by the New York Times Co. The communities are a unique partof Cajun country in south Louisiana, about 60 miles southwest of New
Orleans. We're looking for someone to research and write the harder-hitting nvestigative pieces, in-depth looks at subjects and issues that the daily demands staff writers face don't always leave time to tackle.
The ideal candidate will have a keen news sense, strong reporting and writing skillsand a flair for finding hard-hitting local topics that readers care about.Candidates should have a solid mastery of English grammar and AP style and at least two years experience at a daily newspaper. A four-year collegedegree is required. The Courier, a New York Times Co. newspaper, has been
named Louisiana’s Newspaper of the Year by the Louisiana Press Association, seven of the nine eight years.
