Jana John is Southern Style Editor at The Clarion-Ledger in Jackson, Miss., where she has worked first on the copy desk and then in Features since 1983. A native of Pauls Valley, Okla., she has been in the newspaper business since 1977, working at papers in Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana before Mississippi. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Oklahoma State University. John and her husband, Butch John, a senior reporter at The Clarion-Ledger, have four cats. When not writing headlines and designing pages, she is a clay artist and member of the Craftsmen’s Guild of Mississippi.
