The Courier and Daily Comet Needs a General Assignment Reporter
The Courier and Daily Comet, sister papers in south Louisiana, seek a eneral assignment reporter. The Courier is a 19,000-circulation dailynewspaper in Houma. The Daily Comet in nearby Thibodaux is an 1,000-circulation daily. Both are owned by the New York Times Co. The communities are a unique part of Cajun country in south Louisiana, about 60 iles southwest of New Orleans.
The ideal candidate will have a keen newssense, strong reporting and writing skills and a flair for finding
hard-hitting, fun, unusual, enlightening local topics that readers care bout. Candidates should have a solid mastery of English grammar and AP style. A four-year college degree is required. Previous experience at a daily newspaper or a magazine is preferred but not necessary.
