The San Jose Mercury News needs a food writer
The San Jose Mercury News has an immediate opening for a Food Writer. The Food Writer reports and writes on events, issues, trends and people in the subject area of food and dining. Ideally, the person possesses a strong journalistic background, deep knowledge of food culture and gastronomy – including diverse culinary customs and cuisines, cooking methods, food safety and production, food politics - and experience writing about food and dining. The person contributes stories, news and information for all parts of the print and online Mercury News, but primarily for the print and online Food section. In addition to producing articles and short pieces that are well-written, accurate and balanced, the person is able to review restaurants with authority and insight. The job may include blogging and other multimedia, and reporting and writing on larger Feature and Lifestyle topics.
