The State Journal-Register needs a features editor The State Journal-Register in Springfield, Ill., a 49,000 daily/59,000 Sunday circulation newspaper, is seeking a dynamic features editor with an eye for design, an ability to direct timely coverage of what people are talking about, and how best to present information and drive traffic to both print and online. The features editor will lead a staff of eight and oversee 10 weekly sections as well as three seasonal events guides. Candidates should have at least five years at a daily newspaper, a strong track record of consistent performance, strong editing skills and a demonstrated ability to improve the product. Management experience is required, as is a four-year college degree in journalism or a related field. Candidates must be comfortable managing for performance; set and measure progress by defined goals; be highly organized and able to multi-task. Pay and benefits competitive.
