The Minneapolis Star-Tribune Needs a Features Editor
The Minneapolis Star Tribune is looking for a features editor to take charge of the
daily features sections. The editor will supervise reporters as well as coordinate
content that comes from the wires, syndicates and freelancers. This editor will
conceptualize and coordinate the section, ensuring that it offers a content menu that
is newsy, thought-provoking, entertaining and fun. This editor will collaborate with
copy editors, designers and photographers to generate outstanding ideas, oversee
timely planning and production, and deliver effective and dynamic packages.He or she
will be the primary supervisor for some reporters and as such will be responsible for
helping them define their beats, outline and execute coverage that meets or exceeds
the best standards in the business, and be the primary line editor for those stories.
Qualifications: Must be a problem-solver, adept at juggling multiple tasks and
priorities. Must possess strong leadership skills and vision to grow and improve the
section. Highly developed management skills that include attention to detail and
deadline, priority- and-goal-setting and story planning. Collaborative skills to
interact with design, copy desk, photo and other features editors daily. Creative
thinker and planner who stays current on pop culture and is able to break out of the
mold of "we've always done it like this." Smart assigning editor who
conceptualizes smart, timely, fresh stories that bring high-impact to the features
pages as well as providing content for A-1.
