The Courier in Houma, Louisiana needs a copy editor/graphic designer

The Courier, a 19,000-circulation daily newspaper in Houma, La., is looking for someone with a combination of strong page-design and editing skills to join our newsroom as a copy editor/graphic designer. Assignments will include doing page layout and design and editing copy for the newspaper and other in-house publications.

Candidates should be proficient in common editing, graphics and layout software, including Quark Xpress, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Freehand and Microsoft Word. A four-year college degree is required. Skills at designing and creating print and Web graphics is a plus but not required. Previous experience at a daily newspaper is preferred but not necessary. The ideal candidate will have keen news sense, be team-oriented and have a thorough understanding of AP Style and grammar.
