Arts Critic-Reporter
The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle needs an arts critic-reporter. Rochester, New York, is home to a vibrant arts community. We’ve got the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, the prestigious Eastman School of Music and the annual nine-day Rochester International Jazz Festival. Our city’s opera company has a large and faithful following. On the dance scene, you can’t get any better than the internationally acclaimed Garth Fagan Dance and its namesake founder who won a Tony for the choreography in Disney’s The Lion King. The Democrat and Chronicle needs a proven arts reporter who has criticism experience in classical and jazz music and opera and dance. Knowledge of trends in these areas is a must.

The talented writer we’re looking for will also back up our other arts reporter, who covers visual arts, museums and the many theater groups in town. On the multimedia front (check out all that we’re doing at DemocratandChronicle.com), this critic should be prepared to do Web podcasts, collect audio samples, work with photographers and videographers and appear on television with the local ABC affiliate as needed. This person should instinctively know when scheduled interviews will yield good audio or video for the Web.
